Nicholas DiMaria is an 18-year old trumpet player who aspires to spend his life performing and sharing his passion for jazz. He attends the
Manhattan School of Music where he majors in Jazz Arts. He is currently studying with Scott Wendholt, a highly regarded professional trumpeter in
both the jazz and Broadway scene.
Nicholas started playing the trumpet at age 8 and soon after discovered his love for the groove and creativity in jazz. He studied with Nate
Kaercher and John Piazza Jr., both well respected regional trumpet players and jazz educators. Nicholas has also been recognized by several local
and national scholarship organizations. He participated the NYSSMA Conference All-State Jazz Band in both his junior and senior year of high
school and was honored to play both the lead and the solo trumpet part in that ensemble.
Nicholas also had the privilege of appearing with Carrie Lazarus on her Extraordinary Talent segment for NewsChannel 9 and later performed at the Landmark Theater with the band NOTEiFied.
Last Summer, he and NOTEiFied opened the 2016 Syracuse Jazz Fest and he is excited to entertain the CNY community once again; this time
alongside his Manhattan School of Music contemporaries. He wishes to express gratitude to Carrie Lazarus, Frank Malfitano, and all of the Central
New York musicians who have inspired, encouraged, and supported him along the way.
